Many commuters, holiday makers, tourists and explorers use the railways on a daily basis as it is a quicker alternative and safer way to travel. Also trains provide frequent services from Early in morning through till late in evenings making it convenient for everyone.
Now because of £100million investments being made weekly to railway network in order to continue running reliable services, railway fares are increasing annually so they have the money to make the railway network run 24/7.
With rail fares increasing yearly with this year increasing by 3.1%, it is causing masses of frustration and anger for everyone who needs to get out and about especially for those who don't earn as much but still have to rely on travelling by train. Also people who rely on railways are of course going to get annoyed and angered by the problems. Also this year has been the worst year since 2005 for bad railway passenger service with one in seven trains being delayed.
The growth with the railways yearly means the fares needs to be up to standard so that everyone can get on train without having to spend a fortune but that is clearly not the case because rail fare increasing is going to make it harder for everyone.
Even though investment is being made to give us newer trains, HS2, refurbishment and other improvements, it doesn't mean it makes it harder for everyone by taking loads of money away from them. It will only mean that within a matter of time, passengers will have to stop travelling by train because they basically can't afford it and will go for cars which create carbon dioxide and bad pollution for climate which is already as bad as it is.
If railway stopped running, that would mean products would be more difficult to get to locations quickly especially through bad weather conditions and more people would have to quit their jobs because they wouldn't be able to travel many miles they would usually have to travel to get to work. I believe something needs to be done because it's not fair to ask for someone to pay a same price as a laptop to only travel an hour and a half. Losing railway would create an enormous impact on the environment in the UK because more people would turn to cars unless they are able to walk it to wherever they need to go.
The things i would consider suggesting is if they made taxpayers pay £25 or £50 towards the railways meaning that they could still run the railways via the public or they could budget and be careful on what money is being spent but problem is trains need to be maintained daily and new trains are in need to increase capacity.
Is there a way to stop railway fares from increasing annually or via investments? Would it be impossible? What impact will it make on the commuters if the railway fares worsen? Is there a way of which less money could be invested on new trains by using old stock to redesign or extend?
